Linked rings: 8 regular pentagons made of square bars, each at its own angle and turning slowly, are scattered through a ball so that they link through one another; the scene is ray-marched, the nearest bar gives each hit its colour round the rainbow, and the flat faces of the bars are lit from a key light and a fill.

Good to know
- In the Borromean rings, three rings are linked so that cutting any one frees the other two; the arrangement has been a symbol for centuries.

- Colour wheels in rainbow order have been used to organise colour since Newton drew his in 1704.
