Layered Relief No. 120
11 bands of paper are stacked from the far top to the near bottom; each fills everything below an edge made from three sines and a little noise with its own phase, is lit near the crest and darkens toward its foot as a curved sheet would, and throws a shadow on the layer behind it, with a highlight where the edge turns toward the light.
Hearted by 1 person in the Gallery.
Good to know
- Paper-cut layered art, sometimes called papercut shadow boxes, glues many sheets one above another with small gaps, so that light and shadow give each layer depth.
In art
- Soft gradients and stacked wave shapes in one hue became a common background style in graphic design in the 2010s.
Made with Wave layers.
