Lavender Filament Web
4 layers of Voronoi cells, about 6.74 across, are used only for their edges, which are straight lines that meet three at a time at a node; about 90 percent of the edges are kept, thinned and brightened where a slow noise field says the web is dense, and a wider field colours it from cool to hot, with cell centres drifting so the filaments reach and release.

Good to know
- The neurons of the brain form a web through thousands of connections each; Santiago Ramon y Cajal, who shared the 1906 Nobel Prize for showing that they are separate cells, drew them in ink.
In art
- A dark ground with a few strong, hot centres is the language of astrophotography, where colour is often assigned to the light from different elements.
